Our Provider

Chanell Mendez
MSN, PMHNP-BC

Chanell began her journey at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital as a pediatric psychiatric nurse. Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists, she discovered her passion for holistic support and pursued greater autonomy in her practice. During this time, Chanell earned her master's degree in psychiatric nursing at Regis College in Boston, Massachusetts.

Her education was enriched by studying abroad at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, where she explored innovative care models and gained valuable perspective on mental health approaches in European healthcare systems.

Committed to community impact, Chanell founded Little Minds Resources, empowering children aged 5 to 12 to understand mental health through storytelling. She authored the children's book "All Gardens Tell A Story," designed to help families navigate mental health conversations.

When not serving clients, Chanell enjoys gardening, spending time with her children, traveling, and hiking with her two dogs. Her approach integrates holistic principles with evidence-based care, considering both medical factors and personal backgrounds. Drawing from her diverse experiences, Chanell provides compassionate, individualized support to help each client achieve their best possible outcomes.

All Gardens tell a Story

Have you ever wondered what happens when a fairy garden comes to life? This magical picture book takes parents and children through an understanding of mental illness through vegetables. A young fairy farm girl tells the story of dealing with unexplained feelings that cannot always be seen from the outside. The fairy farm girl's garden comes to life as they attempt to encourage their friend, the squash, to see the brightness of the day. Could the young squash have unexplained feelings that others cannot see? The fairy farm girl, family, and friends teach an essential lesson about emotions, mental illness, and compassion for an unseen disease. The book helps children understand that it's okay to ask for help and see a therapist. Every book includes an emotion chart and worksheets to review as a family.
